Building Paper – Paper conforming to BS1521 Class A
Building paper may be used on smooth decking materials such as plywood providing that the underside of the decking is ventilated. It is also a suitable underlay for smooth concrete, stone or screeded surfaces to prevent a corrosive attack on the release of free alkali from the drying cement.
Building paper comes in rolls of various widths and lengths and can be easily cut to size with a utility knife. It is relatively easy to install and typically requires only basic hand tools such as a hammer and nails or a staple gun.
Geotex Underlay
Polytex textile lead underlay is a tough permeable material used to isolate sheet metal roofing from substrates, allowing the metal to expand and contract with temperature changes.
Polytex underlay is known for its durability, strength, and water resistance. It can help to prevent leaks and moisture intrusion from wind-driven rain, snow, and ice dams. It can also help to improve the overall energy efficiency of a building by reducing air infiltration and heat loss.
available in a variety of thicknesses and widths to accommodate different roofing applications. It can be installed using basic hand tools, such as a hammer and nails or a staple gun. In general, it is relatively easy to install and can be a cost-effective alternative to traditional roofing underlayment materials such as felt paper or rubberized asphalt.
Patination Oil
When exposed to a damp atmosphere, lead can form a coating of white lead oxide. This can cause a problem in a building as the oxide can wash off the lead and stain the brickwork or tiling below (see in the picture)..
Patination oil is a type of oil that is used to treat copper, brass, bronze, or other metal surfaces to achieve a desired patina or colour. A patina is a natural tarnish that forms on metals over time due to exposure to air, moisture, and other environmental factors. Many people find the natural patina on metal surfaces attractive and desirable, as it adds character and visual interest to the metal. It can help to enhance the natural beauty of metal and protect it from further corrosion and damage.
Patination oil is available in a variety of formulations, each designed to produce a specific colour or effect on the metal surface. Some patination oils are applied to the metal surface and left to dry, while others are heated to accelerate the patination process.
